Dear Uncle Eben, As the journey to lay you to eternal rest begins today, I just thought to express my heartfelt gratitude to you and my dear Aunty for being so accommodating, accepting and kind to us as a family. I have known you all my life and can attest to your calm, kind, jovial and simple lifestyle. Your smile and pleasant disposition always light up the room, and the unique nicknames you gave to everyone will always linger in our hearts. We will sorely miss these beautiful moments we shared with you. Growing up, I remembered my Mum always saying she lived in your house for some years while schooling in Ondo. Your house was also the holiday destination for me and my siblings while growing up. I will always be grateful for those memories of how you released your driver and 504 station wagon car to pick us up on several occasions to spend our holidays at government quarters in Ondo and thereafter, Akure. Thank you for always attending all our family functions after the passing of our dad despite the inconvenience of travelling from Ado to Ijebu. The last function was at my brother's wedding ceremony in Abeokuta; I could tell that particular journey was stressful for you and Mummy, considering that you had to travel from Ekiti to Ijebu-ode and then to Abeokuta for the ceremony. There is absolutely no way it would have been easy for you to sit in the car for hours. I see those sacrifices, and I know it can only be out of genuine care and desire to be there for us. Your actions proved that the saying "baba ku baba ku" is indeed true. We miss you already, Uncle Eben, and the thought of you not being at family functions in the future hurts…But we do not mourn like those who do not have hope, for, on the resurrection morning, we will see you yet again. Even though the grief and the pain of your passing are still there, I am reminded of the hymn by Keith Getty: In Christ alone, my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease Our comforter, our all in all Here in the love of Christ, we stand. No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in us From life's first cry to the final breath Jesus commands our destiny No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck us from His hand Till He returns or calls us home Here in the power of Christ, we'll stand I pray for strength for mummy Oluremi Alade, my dear cousins, and the entire family. May the love of Christ strengthen you, and may the Holy Spirit, the greatest comforter, comfort you all on every side. Sleep on Daddy Ebenezer Oluwadamilare Alade (aka Daddy Akure, aka Daddy Ado, aka Uncle Eben). With love Tobias and the Angels (as you always called me)

Daddy Ebenezer Oluwadamilare Alade, you left unannounced. What a rude shock that you could leave this way. You were so energetic and strong. Till the end, you were a good man. Indeed, your good works on earth will pave way for you in eternity. To say I will miss you is an understatement but what can I do? Thanks for all you did to settle my family issues while you were here. I will never forget your care, love, and support. Daddy Ado, till we meet at our Lord’s feet.
Dr Kemi Elechi
Sir, you were a great man. A good man with maximum impact. You made the world a better place than you met. You were always joyful and always tried to spread joy to those around you. You encouraged me to go to the university because according to you, even if after graduation, i want to start selling clothes, I will be a better cloth seller as the university degree will always stand me out among other cloth sellers. May God grant your beautiful soul eternal rest and may He console your family and loved ones in Jesus mighty name, amen.
Jaiye Alli
May daddy's soul rest in everlasting peace, May the good Lord console and comfort the entire family.

Adebayo Ajagunna
Last week Wednesday, I was driving through Louisiana at about 9 in the morning when I started singing a song. The words of the song (sang to the tune of the hymn "Trust and Obey") goes thus: "Add Ammonia For there is no other way, To get a blue precipitate You must add Ammonia". I kept singing and laughing and then my mind went to my Uncle EBENEZER OLUWADARE ALADE (Uncle NEBE POWER) because the song was from one of his many repertoire of jokes. It was about a chemistry teacher trying to help his bungling student in the chemistry practical WAEC exams without alerting the WAEC invigilator. That was my Uncle, so many jokes, humor and great banter. I never saw him angry or say a bad word towards anyone. He was my mum's youngest brother so in the midst of 3 domineering elder sisters, I would have expected some aggression but he was always calm and smiling. A shining example of a man, he and his wife so close that I never even saw them disagree in 49 years of marriage. He was my go to for every and anything. When I was going to meet my inlaws in Awka for the first time, I just drove to his house in Ado-Ekiti and said "Uncle you are going with me to Awka to meet my inlaws" and without hesitation he hopped into my car and we laughed and joked all the way. My father in law and him both engineers hit it off right off the bat. When my brother Debola Ajagunna called later that day to say Uncle had passed, I asked when and I found out it was almost the exact time I was singing "Add Ammonia" and laughing to myself remembering him and Debola believes his soul was just saying farewell to me at that time. My uncle was successful in all his endeavors, an exemplary marriage of 49 years to his beautiful wife and my dear Auntie Remi, 4 successful children with their own growing families led by my dear cousin Fisho Adenike and a career in public service where he rose to the top of his field. He was at one time GM/CEO of the Old Ondo State Water Corporation, he was also Commissioner Works and Special Duties in Ekiti State, he was at one time a board member of the Nigerian Footbal Association (NFA now NFF) and Chairman Water Corporation Football Club Akure. Uncle you are irreplaceable and we will miss you but we are glad you lived a full and fulfilled 77 years. We will celebrate you always.
Mrs Akinwumi J.O

My 'Asso' Daddy I bless God for the day my friend Sola took me to Akure on Holiday and that was how I became a part of the Alade's family. I always love to watch you eat and never got over how little you eat. I will ask you over and over if you were okay and you will just smile. Daddy never took more than two slices of bread and always eat with his fork and knife. I have never seen you get angry. The only time I saw you upset was the day Sis Nike, Sola and I took the same public transport from Lagos to Akure and it was just for a brief moment and out of love for your children. The love and respect I had for you increased that day. You told us a story that day that I will never forget. As a young convert, when it was my turn to take the devotion during our family altar, and I am struggling with what to say, you always had a way of making me calm and at ease. You had a way of helping me through it and those things really helped become a better Christian.. When I was going for my Youth service, you were there for me. You really made me happy that night Daddy. I was going for Youth service and didn't have a dime on me and you surprised me with that white envelope You made sure you were present at my wedding despite the short notice. You were always so understanding. The best holidays my children had were the ones they spent with you and Mummy in Ado. You were the first Grandparents they knew. Thank you for filling that gap Daddy. We all love you for that. When I broke the news to the children, they all went silent and no one spoke for a long time. One could have heard a pin drop. We are comforted with the fact that, you are in a better place. Your memories and pictures is what we have and will be forever treasured. Forever in our heart Daddy. Till we meet again Adieu Daddy!!
